GETTING EVERYONE INVOLVED
See behind the scenes at one of the events we held with the Department for Work and Pensions...
“Informative, engaging and inspirational! A once in a lifetime opportunity not to be missed. Thank you to Gordon Ramsay and his team at Woking for supporting your local communities and the hospitality sector as a whole.”
Oliver Beck, Communications Leader – Surrey & Sussex, Department for Work and Pensions
"THANK YOU FOR THE INCREDIBLE WORK YOU ARE DOING..."
"...with our young people with diabetes, if the smiles and feedback are anything to go by, then the impact is huge." FRIMLEY PARK HOSPITAL, SURREY
"The students will remember this day more than anything else they have ever done."
WOKING COLLEGE
NHS FRIMLEY HEALTH DIABETES
With some experience within our own team of cooking and eating with diabetes, we jumped at the chance to support Frimley Health with its paediatric department's diabetes programme.
Offering cooking classes to young people learning to live with diabetes is a great way to get them excited about food and cooking, and give the positive experiences to look back on. We'd like to thank all the wonderful nursing staff who have helped out with the classes - and perhaps learnt a few cooking techniques, too!
NHS ROYAL SURREY AND ST PETER'S DIABETES
After the success of working with the NHS Frimley Hospital Trust, we were delighted to also bring St Peter's and Royal Surrey hospitals on board to our Junior Diabetes programme. “The cooking experience is great because a lot of children with type 1 diabetes have a complicated relationship with food and they feel confused and anxious about what they should eat and when.
“The sessions give our young people a better understanding of food and they also get to meet others who are facing the same challenges.” Soraia Cabral, Paediatric Diabetes Nurse from NHS Royal Surrey Foundation Trust
GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL
Alongside Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, the Academy is supporting the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation in its activities for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity. We are offering class prizes for fundraising events and Gordon Ramsay Restaurants will be again giving guests the opportunity to add a £1 donation to their orders over the festive period.
ACTIVE SURREY
We are excited to be taking part in a fantastic programme of resources and activities for Surrey families looking to pursue healthy lifestyles. Be Your Best provides online support for families, so we thought our online cooking classes would be a great way for parents and children to get inspired to cook healthy, and delicious, meals together at home.
SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Here at the Academy, we love inspiring young people to cook and as such it was wonderful to host the first workshop in the Surrey, How Do I? programme created by Surrey County Council.
Getting teenagers from diverse backgrounds into the kitchen together, we had great fun cooking a delicious curry, pasta bake and gorgeous gooey chocolate brownies.
WOKING & SAM BEARE HOSPICE
The Academy was delighted to host staff members of the Hospice on a cooking class and to support their 25th Anniversary Dove Ball fundraiser with an auction prize.
FoodCycle
Tackling food poverty, loneliness and food waste through community dining, the volunteers at FoodCycle do an incredible job in local areas and we were thrilled to help celebrate their work with an online knife skills class. Not only was this a fun way to get together, but also a great way to sharpen those essential skills that make preparing meals easier every single day. FoodCycle also do fantastic work raising funds to provide meals to people who really need them, such as their World Food Day Raffle with brilliant foodie prizes, including an Academy voucher!
