October Book Club: Ramsay in 10 with Chef James 'Jocky' Petrie

Delicious dishes in just 10 minutes? Let us show you how! We are so excited to kick off our Academy Book Club with a special event hosted by Chef James 'Jocky' Petrie, who helped Gordon write and develop the fantastic recipes for his brand new cookbook, Ramsay in 10. Join us for a behind-the-scenes taster of this must-have book.

What to expect

Welcome to the Gordon Ramsay Academy Book Club! This is our chance to explore and celebrate a cookbook we love every month, from brand new titles to hidden treasures and of course, the absolute classics that every cook should own. Join us for a delicious evening where we get ‘behind the book’, discussing the inspiration, stories and ingredients that make it special. The evening will include demonstrations of favourite recipes from our chefs or the authors themselves, a glass of something nice and the book to take home and add to your own collection.

What better way to kick off our recipe Book Club than with the release of Ramsay in 10, Gordon’s brand new book that is all about delicious dishes that you really can cook in a flash. Hosted by Executive Development Chef James 'Jocky' Petrie, this is your chance to see how easy it is to cook up an amazing meal in just 10 minutes, and learn more about the inspiration, and challenges behind the book’s creation.

Jocky is a bit of a legend amongst UK chefs – having worked for Heston Blumenthal before joining Gordon in 2015, he is known for his incredible creativity and imagination. Working closely with Gordon, he helped produce foolproof, yet flavour-packed recipes that really can be on the table in 10 minutes. This is a fantastic opportunity to watch one of the UK’s most respected chefs cook and question him on everything from microwave tips to Michelin dining!

Will Gordon be cooking…?

Gordon tries to visit the Academy when he can and does occasionally join us in the kitchen. Our events and dining experiences are hosted by fantastically talented chefs from the Academy and Gordon's restaurants, as well by guest chefs and experts from around the world.

Can I book for a large group…?

Of course! If booking for six or more (or more than 10 devices for an online class), please get in touch with our Private Dining and Events team who can help create an amazing experience just for you.

Who can attend these demonstrations…?

If you love food and are over 16 years old, then come along. You can book as an individual, couple or as a small group.

If you have any accessibility needs or if there's anything we can do to help make your experience more comfortable, please let us know in the booking form or give us a call to chat through.

What if I have a food allergy or special dietary need...?

Don't panic! The demonstration will include some tasters to try but you can always opt out of these. We'll always try to accommodate any specific requirements if we can and you can let us know about these in the booking form.

Otherwise do contact us to discuss a particular class or booking. You could also consider booking a private class through our Private Dining and Events team that's tailored to your needs.

We unfortunately cannot guarantee an allergen or nut-free environment in any of our kitchens.

What should I wear/bring with me…?

Whatever you’re comfortable in. There’s no cooking involved so you can just watch and learn, and we’ll provide recipe packs and pens in case you want to make any notes.

How do I get to you and is there parking…?

We’re handily located in Woking town centre, have a look at our Contact page for all location and travel advice.

Can I give a class or event as a gift…?

Great idea! We’ve got several gift voucher options starting from just £10. All e-vouchers can be emailed over instantly so make great last-minute gifts.

If booking a specific class or event on behalf of someone else, please ensure you provide their details and requirements in the attendee part of the booking form.

How do I use my gift voucher...?

Lucky you! Simply put the voucher code into the Promo/Voucher code box during checkout and the voucher amount will be taken off your order. For full details on how to redeem your voucher, please see our How to redeem a voucher page.

Vouchers are valid for 12 months from purchase and can be redeemed against one order (including any classes, events and products but excluding gift vouchers) – we regret that we are unable to offer a refund or credit for any outstanding balance.

What is a waiting list...?

If the class or event you want is fully booked, you can join a waiting list to be notified if places become available.

Can I change my booking if something comes up...?

No problem. We understand sometimes things come up unexpectedly - please just let us know as soon as possible and we'll always try and reschedule your booking to another date if we can.

You can call us on 020 7352 2442, email us on woking@gordonramsayacademy.com or amend your booking in your account up to one week before the class start time. If there are no other suitable dates available or you'd like to switch to a different class or event, please get in touch with our team.

Due to the preparation required for classes, we cannot guarantee being able to reschedule any bookings within 48 hours of the class start time.

Bookings can only be refunded if cancelled more than 14 days before the class. Please see our Terms and Conditions for further information.

What about photography in classes…?

We’d love you to share your photos and experiences with others on social media – tag @gordonramsayacademy and show everyone what you’ve been cooking!

We often photograph and film classes to share in our social and marketing but if you’re not comfortable with this, you can choose to opt out in the booking form and we’ll always check with you in class as well. For more information, please see our Terms and Conditions

Anything else I should know…?

If you have any questions at all about what happens at the Academy, how bookings or vouchers work, your account, or how we can make sure you have the best experience you possibly can, just get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.
