Summer inspiration

We're packing maximum flavour into gorgeous summer recipes with this half-day class that will give you plenty of inspiration for outdoor feasts, whether you're cooking on the barbecue or in the kitchen. Once you've mastered smoky, charred meat and veg, plus vibrant sides and a gorgeous pud, you'll be ready for the sunshine.  


What to expect

We love cooking with ingredients when they’re at their best. Our Seasonal classes are a great way to explore produce that reflects the time of year, whether that’s fresh tender veg in spring or the orchard fruits of autumn.

There are so many beautiful ingredients available during the summer, it's hard not to be inspired to cook with them whenever you can! We think mastering a few simple elements, such as perfectly griddled veg or confidently cooked chicken, will set you up with the basics for any summer gathering. 

We'll be charring and griddling some dishes on traditional hobs to demonstrate techniques you can use on a barbecue or outdoor grill, with the focus on preparation, flavours and accompaniments. These include a spicy glaze for chicken skewers, crowd-pleasing herby grains that go with anything and everything, baked feta and a stunning strawberry cake to finish. 

Class details

3-hour classes: Starting 9.30am, 11am or 1pm (please check individual booking)

Arrive up to 30 minutes before your class to check in at reception and there’s no rush at the end – you might be too busy eating your delicious dishes!

Class size: Maximum 10-12 guests, some elements may require working in pairs with a classmate, don’t worry if you’ve come alone – it’s a great way to meet new people and have a laugh

Typical recipes and skills (we’ll cook the best available on the day, so we might surprise you!):

  • Spicy, glazed chicken skewers
  • Perfectly charred Mediterranean veg
  • Baked feta with chilli and lemon
  • Herby grain and green salads
  • Roasted strawberry polenta cake dessert 
  • Please note, this class does not include use of actual barbecues or open fire cooking
