A twist on a classic, this lemon and basil iced tea is perfect for warmer weather and easy to make at home. It's simple and super refreshing. We love to serve ours over ice with a sprig of basil and slices of lemon. To add your own twist, try with peaches, raspberries, or even blueberries!

Ingredients

  • 2 green tea bags
  • ½ lemon, finely sliced, plus extra to serve
  • 2-3 sprigs of basil, leaves picked, plus extra to serve
  • 2 tsp sugar (to taste)
  • Ice cubes, to serve

Cooking instructions

  • Fill the kettle with water and bring it to the boil.
  • Meanwhile, add the tea bags, lemon slices and basil to a heat-proof jug or container. Completely cover the ingredients with hot water then stir in the sugar.
  • Allow to steep for 15 minutes, then remove the tea bags and stir again.
  • Leave to cool, then seal and place in the fridge to chill completely. This will keep for 24 hours, or up to 5 days if you strain and remove the fresh ingredients.
  • When ready to serve, fill 2 tall glasses (or 4 small tumblers) with ice cubes, pour over the iced tea and garnish with fresh lemon slices and basil leaves.
