16-21 Kitchen skills for life: Quick and easy

Heading off to college, uni or your first flat share...? Then get confident in the kitchen as our chefs help you master those essential skills and core recipes that will mean cooking for yourself is quick and easy. If you're a bit unsure of the kitchen or just want to make sure you've got the basics nailed down, this is the class for you!


What to expect

With our Kitchen skills for life classes, we want to make sure everyone gets the best start they can when beginning to cook solo. Our chefs know that a little confidence in the kitchen goes a long way, whether that's making a quick meal, preparing for the week ahead or inviting mates over for a feast. It's all easy when you know how!

Broken down into three days, you can choose your level or work through all three to be the ultimate chef!

QUICK AND EASY: Sometimes you just need to be able to get dinner on the table, fast! With some essential knife skills and confidence in core recipes, you'll always be ready to make a meal, completely stress-free. This is a great place to start if you're new to the kitchen and will set you up to start cooking on your own.

PREPARE AND BATCH: Organisation is the sign of a great chef. Learn how to get ahead with great batch cook recipes that will see you through the week, plus ingredients and skills that will make everyday easier (and more delicious!).

SHARE AND IMPRESS: Eating with friends is so much fun, we want the cooking to be just as fun! Being able to create your own feasts that not only taste amazing but look good too, will mean you're always ready to throw a party and invite people over.

Class details

Guests: This class is aimed at 16-21 year olds

Class starts: 10am, arrive anytime from 9.30am to check in at reception

Class finishes: 3-3.30pm, depending on lunch break and time to finish dishes

Class size: Maximum 12 guests, some elements may require working in pairs with a classmate, don’t worry if you’ve come alone – it’s a great way to meet new people and have a laugh

Typical recipes and skills (we’ll cook the best available on the day, so we might surprise you!):

  • Master essential knife skills for speedy veg chopping
  • Easy eggs
  • Perfect pasta with a simple sauce
  • Spicy veg and store cupboard staples
  • Simple sweet treat for those emergency sugar cravings!

  • Recipe wallet and class recipes
  • Refreshments throughout the class and lunch from dishes made on the day
  • Takeaway containers to take your creations home in (although feel free to bring your own or a cool bag if travelling far)
