Skills in 90: Meat

In a handy 90-minute class, this is the perfect opportunity to learn a few extra butchery knife skills around your day. Mastering a few quick techniques, such as butterflying a chicken breast or preparing pork belly, will give you the confidence to cook up quick and delicious dinners at home.

What to expect

Master the essentials in just 90 minutes with our Skills night classes. Focussing on specific knife skills, ingredient preparation and core processes, our chefs will take you through these as you practise in the best way possible, by cooking your own dinner to enjoy with a glass of wine!

No matter your skill or experience, this is a great introduction to simple butchery and is aimed at building your confidence in working with kitchen knives. Being able to joint a chicken or butterfly the breasts will set you up for many easy quick and easy meals at home, while preparing pork belly into different cuts will be a skill that is sure to impress. 

Everything you need to rustle up some tasty dishes will be provided in class and you’ll take home your class recipes and any leftovers, plus plenty of inspiration for your own cooking. 

Class details

Class starts: 6.30pm, arrive anytime from 6pm to check in at reception

Class finishes: 8pm, stay to dine with your class or take home the dishes you’ve made

Class size: Maximum 12 guests, some elements may require working in pairs with a classmate, don’t worry if you’ve come alone – it’s a great way to meet new people and have a laugh

Typical recipes and skills (we’ll cook the best available on the day, so we might surprise you!):

  • Butterflying chicken breasts and preparing chicken schnitzel
  • Working with pork belly to get different cuts, such as a rolled porchetta or sticky ribs
